Construction is increasing near Calgary's Saddledome and BMO Centre. This work is part of the new Culture + Entertainment District, which includes Scotia Place, the future home of the Calgary Flames. Officials expect road detours and closures throughout 2025 and beyond. Emma Stevens, from the Calgary Municipal Land Corporation, mentioned that there will be intermittent road closures and sidewalk restrictions for the rest of the year. Starting Monday, sections of Stampede Trail and 14th Avenue S.E. will also face temporary road closures for utility work. This phase is expected to last until mid-April, and then further closures will occur. Liz Whittaker, from Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation, advised visitors to arrive early. She suggests using Calgary Transit to get to events. There are also nearby parking options available. Construction work is set to pause for the Rotary Convention in June and the Calgary Stampede in July, before resuming after the events. The area is going through significant changes, which will affect travel around these popular venues.
