California Forever proposes shipyard in Solano County

A group called California Forever wants to create a new city in Solano County, California. They have now proposed building a shipyard in the area. California Forever believes that Solano County can help strengthen the nation's naval power. They say building a shipyard would revive local maritime industries and create jobs. The proposed shipyard would be located in Collinsville, a rural area with very few homes. However, local lawmakers are concerned about this plan. Supervisor Mitch Mashburn, who represents the area, wants to ensure that residents and local organizations have a say in the decision. He supports the idea of a shipyard but worries that California Forever might use it to push their broader city project. Mashburn emphasized that there should be no trade-offs between the shipyard and the city development. Congressman John Garamendi also expressed doubts about California Forever's approach. He advocates for community involvement in the planning process. Garamendi stated that while he supports the maritime industry, California Forever should work with local leaders and seek public input to find a solution that benefits everyone.
