California officials identify suspect in 1979 murder of teenager Esther Gonzalez
California officials have identified Lewis Randolph “Randy” Williamson as the suspect in the 1979 murder of 17-year-old Esther Gonzalez. Her body was found in snow near a highway after she was raped and bludgeoned to death. Williamson, who died in 2014, had previously passed a polygraph test and reported finding Gonzalez's body. Forensic technology recently linked his DNA to evidence from the case, which had remained unsolved for over 45 years. The Riverside County District Attorney's office announced the development on Wednesday. Authorities continue to seek information from the public regarding the case.
