Barco has launched new premium HDR laser projectors in permanent theaters. The first two locations are Cinepolis Pico Rivera in Los Angeles County and Alamo Drafthouse Cinema New Mission in San Francisco. They debuted with the movie "Novocaine," released by Paramount Pictures. The Cinepolis Pico Rivera is also the first Cinepolis MACRO XE auditorium in the United States. Upcoming films that will be shown using these new projectors include "A Working Man," set to release on March 28, and "A Minecraft Movie," coming out on April 4. Additional titles include "Warfare" on April 11 and "The Accountant 2," which will arrive on April 25. Some theaters, including B&B Theatres in Dallas and Regal locations in Miami and New York, also started showing "Novocaine" in HDR as part of a pilot program last fall. The new projectors use advanced technology to improve picture quality by enhancing the contrast between bright and dark scenes. Barco’s projectors will be highlighted at CinemaCon, which takes place starting March 31 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
