California woman alleges father is serial killer; no evidence
A woman in California has made shocking claims on Facebook, alleging that her elderly father is a serial killer. The Mendocino County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating these claims but has not found any evidence to support them. The woman, Galina Trefil, says her father, Jon Charles Trefil, 86, confessed to her about murders. She shared her story on social media, stating she has lived with this secret for years. The Sheriff's Office revealed that they began investigating her claims on January 30, 2023. Since then, their investigation has not connected Jon Trefil to any crimes. Authorities have examined recordings, journals, and other materials provided by Galina but found no definitive evidence. They obtained Jon's DNA to compare it to a DNA profile from a murder investigation in the 1970s. Jon's DNA did not match that profile. Galina has also claimed that her father buried victims at a cabin in Comptche, California. However, searches for human remains and evidence have not yielded any results. The sheriff's office noted they could not find any confessions in Jon's diaries either. While the investigation continues, the Sheriff's Office has not yet interviewed Jon Trefil directly because of his fragile health. They have stated they will pursue the matter further if there is legal justification. As of now, there is no substantial evidence to back Galina's claims. Authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
