Canada suspends embassy services in Ukraine following U.S. air attack warning
Canada has temporarily closed its embassy in Kyiv, Ukraine, after U.S. officials warned of a potential significant air attack. In-person services have been suspended, and citizens are advised to shelter in place during air alerts. Other countries, including Spain, Italy, and Greece, have also closed their embassies in Ukraine as a precaution. This comes as the war in Ukraine marks over 1,000 days of conflict. Tensions have increased, with the U.S. allowing Ukraine to use longer-range missiles against Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin has also lowered the threshold for nuclear weapon use amid ongoing military actions.
