Canadians reduce Florida visits due to rising concerns
Many Canadians are choosing not to return to U.S. mobile home parks for their winter vacations. In St. Petersburg, Florida, Diana Brisebois, a long-time visitor, noted that her community used to be lively with events led by Canadians. Now, she feels alone, as she is one of the few remaining Canadians. She plans to move back to Sudbury, Ontario, citing the high cost of living in Florida and her dislike for U.S. politics as main reasons. Richard Poirier from Sudbury echoed similar sentiments. He enjoyed traveling to Florida with his wife but decided to cancel their trips this year. They no longer feel safe in the U.S. due to political tensions and have put their RV up for sale. Instead, they will consider visiting Mexico in the colder months. While some Canadians are changing their travel plans, many U.S. locals have not noticed a significant decline in visitors. Traffic was heavy in Florida during St. Patrick’s Day weekend, indicating steady interest from other U.S. states. However, Canadians are hopeful that their shift away from the U.S. will impact American businesses over time.
