Candidates announce run for federal election in Ontario
Canada is preparing for a federal election after Liberal Leader Mark Carney requested the Governor General to dissolve parliament. Voters have until April 28 to cast their ballots. Candidates from the four major parties have announced their intentions to run in the Hamilton, Burlington, Niagara, Brant, and surrounding areas. Voters can check their riding boundaries on the Elections Canada website. In Brantford—Brant South—Six Nations, Conservative Larry Brock is the incumbent. In Burlington, Conservative Emily Brown and incumbent Liberal Karina Gould are running. Flamborough—Glanbrook—Brant North features Conservative incumbent Dan Muys. In Haldimand—Norfolk, Conservative Leslyn Lewis, also an incumbent, faces Liberal Colin Walsh. In Hamilton Centre, Conservative Hayden Lawrence and Liberal Aslam Rana are both running against New Democrat incumbent Matthew Green. Hamilton East—Stoney Creek includes Liberal incumbent Chad Collins and Conservative Ned Kuruc. Hamilton Mountain has incumbent Liberal Lisa Hepfner and NDP candidate Monique Taylor. The Hamilton West—Ancaster—Dundas riding will see a race among Conservative Erika Alexander, Green Georgia Beauchemin, Liberal John-Paul Danko, and NDP Roberto Henriquez. In Niagara Falls—Niagara-on-the-Lake, Conservative Tony Baldinelli is the incumbent. Niagara South has Liberal incumbent Vance Badawey against Conservative Fred Davies and NDP Chantal McCollum. Finally, in Niagara West, incumbent Conservative Dean Allison is running. In St. Catharines, incumbent Liberal Chris Bittle faces Conservative Bas Sluijmers and NDP Karen Orlandi.
