Canon Pixma TS8750 excels in creative home printing

The Canon Pixma TS8750 is a multifunction printer designed for home and creative use. It is priced on the higher end but offers excellent photo printing and detailed scanning. Unlike Canon's Maxify printers aimed at businesses, the Pixma series focuses on artistic projects. The TS8750 features a sleek design, made from a blend of textures and shiny plastics. Its compact shape resembles AV equipment more than traditional printers. A 100-sheet rear paper tray and a memory card slot enhance its photo-friendly functionality. The printer has a large color touchscreen, making it easy to operate. Setting up the TS8750 is straightforward with its six ink cartridges, including black, cyan, magenta, yellow, grey, and a second black. The dye-based cartridges are ideal for photo printing, while the pigment-based black cartridge produces sharp text on plain paper. The printer also supports SD cards for photo printing. Although it lacks the ability to batch print photos from the card, it offers a multi-frame preview option. However, some design elements, like the paper cassette lip and output tray stop, may be less user-friendly. In tests, the TS8750 printed office documents at a moderate speed, with text printing at 13.4 pages per minute and graphics at 3.9 pages per minute. Photo prints were quicker, with borderless postcards taking around 70 seconds and larger prints taking over five minutes. The scanner performed well, completing previews in 12 seconds and scanning photos at high resolution in under 80 seconds. The print quality is a standout feature. Text is sharp and bold, while color graphics are vibrant with minimal banding. The best results come from high-quality photo paper, showcasing accurate colors and details. Black and white prints are rich and consistent. While the TS8750 is not the most economical choice, especially for text printing, it could be a worthwhile investment for those needing a high-quality home printer for photos and artwork.
