Canton man charged with 32 felonies for child abuse materials

A 28-year-old man from Canton, Minnesota, is facing serious legal trouble. Ethan Charles Olson has been charged with 32 felonies related to child sexual abuse materials. This situation arose after law enforcement received 27 cyber tips about Olson’s activities. Olson has a history with similar charges. It is the third time he has been charged for possessing or distributing pornographic materials. He was taken into custody on March 18 and is currently held on a $100,000 bail at the Fillmore County Jail. His next court hearing is set for March 31. According to the criminal complaint, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigated multiple tips that started in August 2024. They found that Olson created accounts on several platforms, including Kik, Google, Snapchat, and Dropbox. He used different IP addresses and his phone number to hide his activities. The investigation revealed that Olson's accounts contained 268 files of child sexual abuse materials, involving children aged 1 to 12. This illegal activity was linked to both his home and a relative’s address. Olson was previously convicted for possession of similar materials in 2017 and 2019.
