Carbondale woman charged with strangulation in domestic dispute
A woman from Carbondale has been charged with strangulation after a domestic dispute early Friday morning. Police were called to the 100 block of Dundaff Street at about 1:38 a.m. The report indicated a fight between a man and a woman. Officers found Ashleigh Wright on a couch with fresh blood on her shirt from an injury to her nose. She claimed that her husband, Robert Wright, punched her without reason. However, Robert Wright said he was asleep when he was suddenly awoken by a cord from a fan wrapped tightly around his neck. Police noticed red marks on Robert's neck. He told them he hit Ashleigh in the nose with his elbow while trying to remove the cord from his neck. Ashleigh was taken to a local hospital for her injury. Ashleigh Wright, 39, is facing charges of strangulation, simple assault, and harassment. She is currently held at Lackawanna County Prison on a $20,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for April 1 at 11:30 a.m.
