Cardiff gang exploited children for drug dealing
A crime gang in Cardiff celebrated their illegal activities by putting their faces on a birthday cake. The judge described this act as "gloating" over their exploitation of vulnerable children to do their drug dealing. Police had been tracking the gang after discovering they were recruiting children to work as street dealers. During a raid, officers found a photo on a gang member's phone that showed a birthday cake with the images of three members, alongside bottles of champagne and the name of their drug line, "CC." The raid led to the discovery of two kilos of heroin being packaged for sale. The gang's financial operator, who had laundered £100,000 through cryptocurrency, was also arrested. In Newport Crown Court, it was revealed that Cameron Farrah and Tyrese Jones led the operation, directing vulnerable children while trusted dealer Chakeel Lovell handled drug supplies. Joshua Dunbar focused on laundering the gang’s money. Farrah, 25, received an eight-year and nine-month sentence for multiple drug-related charges and human trafficking. He had previous convictions for drug offenses. Jones, 23, received the same sentence for similar charges. Lovell, 23, was sentenced to six years and four months, having a lengthy criminal record, including robbery and violent offenses. Dunbar, 28, was given 25 months for money laundering. Detective Inspector Tim Jones from South Wales Police called the gang's actions "despicable." He emphasized the commitment of law enforcement to safeguard vulnerable individuals from exploitation by organized crime.
