Carlsen questions Gukesh's World Championship win, calls classical chess ineffective for ranking players

D Gukesh recently became the youngest world chess champion at 18, defeating Ding Liren in Singapore. He is only the second Indian grandmaster to win the title, following Viswanathan Anand. Magnus Carlsen criticized Gukesh's victory indirectly, calling classical chess the "worst way" to determine the best player. He suggested that faster chess formats better showcase a player's skills. Carlsen will not challenge Gukesh for the title but is set to compete against him in Norway Chess next May and in the Freestyle Chess Grandslam in February.
