Carpark upgrades underway at Taipā Point

Work is ongoing to improve the carpark near the boat ramp at Taipā Point. The upgrades will include wheelchair accessible spaces, special spots for boat trailers, and public toilets. While construction is taking place, the boat ramp and another parking area will still be open, with traffic managed through a priority give-way system. The project is expected to finish by the Easter holidays, with road sealing planned for the first week of April. This work is part of the Tourism Infrastructure Fund's efforts to enhance Taipā Beachfront. In another development, a man has been charged with murder following a death in Kaikohe on Saturday. The case is currently in court, and more details are expected to emerge as the investigation continues.
