Carpenter dies from hit-and-run injuries in Mumbai

A 25-year-old carpenter named Sunil Vishwakarma died after a week in the hospital. He was injured in a hit-and-run accident in Borivali West, Mumbai. The driver of the tempo involved in the crash has not been found. Police are investigating the case for rash driving and negligence. Sunil lived with his parents in Nala Sopara. His father, Rajendra Vishwakarma, also a carpenter, worked alongside him. On March 13, both men were completing a job at a marble store. After finishing work around 9 pm, they took a shared autorickshaw towards Borivali railway station. While traveling, their autorickshaw was hit by a speeding tempo. Sunil was sitting on the right side and suffered serious injuries to his head and right leg. His father watched in fear as Sunil began to bleed heavily. The tempo driver left the scene without offering help, and Rajendra could not remember the truck's license plate. Sunil was first taken to Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital in Kandivali. Later, he was moved to Apex Hospital and then to KEM Hospital on March 15. However, he remained in critical condition and passed away on March 20. Following his death, Rajendra filed a complaint with the police to help find the driver.
