Cassidy Jagielski commits to Notre Dame for softball
Cassidy Jagielski, a star athlete from Lincoln-Way East High School, has committed to play softball for Notre Dame. Her mother, Liz Bouck-Jagielski, is the head softball coach at DePaul University. Cassidy mentioned that her mother did try to recruit her but ultimately supported Cassidy’s choice to go to Notre Dame. Last week, Cassidy had an impressive start to the season. She went 3-for-3 at the plate, hitting a home run and driving in three runs in a 12-1 victory against St. Laurence. Her performance included a strong showing alongside teammates who also contributed to the win. Cassidy aims to hit more home runs this season after hitting five last spring. She reflects on her first home run back in eighth grade, sharing her excitement at that moment. Her coach, Elizabeth Hyland, praises Cassidy for her skills as a third baseman and her leadership on the field. Teammate Jessi Szafoni appreciates Cassidy’s energy, noting how she helps keep the team connected. The Griffins have a small roster of 12 players but are focused on making the most of it as they progress through the season. Cassidy hopes to have a successful season while also cheering on her mother at DePaul, who recently celebrated a win against Illinois-Chicago. Cassidy credits her mother for her growth and support in softball throughout her life.
