Costume designer Jany Temime incorporated this color subtly, reflecting its significance to Catherine's identity. Initially, Catherine's wardrobe featured bold colors, symbolizing her power. However, as her life unravels after a novel's release, her clothing colors fade, mirroring her loss of control. Temime designed costumes with hidden meanings, connecting characters to their past. A red piece was sewn into Catherine's final coat, maintaining Blanchett's vision of red throughout the series.
