Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar announced plans for a month-long water conservation campaign. This will begin with the Cauvery aarti, set for March 22 at Sankey Tank in Bengaluru. He emphasized that this event is a government initiative and not a political one. Shivakumar spoke to reporters on March 20 and explained that the site for the aarti was chosen after reviewing several locations. He mentioned that many public events have already taken place at Sankey Tank. The upcoming ceremony coincides with World Water Day, which aims to raise awareness about water conservation. The Deputy Chief Minister expressed concern about the misuse of drinking water in the community. He mentioned that people often use it for washing cars or watering gardens. To address this, the campaign will include an oath-taking event to promote responsible water usage. Some local BJP leaders have filed court cases against the aarti at Sankey Tank. Shivakumar assured the public that the government will present its case in court. He encouraged everyone to join the event and help spread awareness about the importance of conserving water.
