Cayce appoints Bruce Wade as new police chief
Cayce has a new police chief. Bruce Wade has been appointed to lead the department, as announced on March 21. He is well-known in the area, having served as assistant chief at the West Columbia Police Department since 2021. Wade has an extensive background in law enforcement. He began his career in 1998 at the Evans Correctional Center in Bennettsville. Recently, he spent three months advising the Cayce Police Department through a partnership between West Columbia and Cayce. Cayce City Manager Jim Crosland expressed gratitude for Wade's work in the advisory role. He noted that Wade understands the needs of the community and is well-respected in policing. Mayor Elise Partin also praised Wade’s education and experience, highlighting the benefits he will bring to the city and its citizens. Wade replaces Herbert Blake, who resigned from the position in December after serving for less than three months.
