The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested four people, including a General Manager from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The arrests were made in connection with a bribery case where ₹15 lakh was exchanged for favors related to NHAI contracts. On March 22, 2025, the CBI opened a case against 12 individuals. This includes six senior NHAI officials and several representatives from a private company. It is alleged that the NHAI officials worked with the private company to fast-track the processing of bills in exchange for bribes. The CBI set up a trap during a meeting between a private company representative and the NHAI official in Patna. They caught the official accepting the bribe and the private representative delivering it. Along with these two, two other company representatives were also arrested. Following the arrests, the CBI conducted searches at various locations. They recovered about ₹1.18 crore in cash, as well as incriminating documents and digital devices. The investigation is ongoing.
