CBI arrests two for illegal possession of rare turtles

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two men for having 65 rare turtles. The men, identified as Mohammad Farman and Shivam Bhandari, were caught during a joint operation with the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau. The turtles included 50 Indian roofed turtles and 15 Spotted pond turtles. These species are protected under the Wildlife (Protection) Act of 1972. The CBI acted on intelligence that led to the operation. After the arrest, the turtles were taken to the Delhi Zoo for care and protection. The two men face charges for possession, transportation, and trade of the turtles, which are listed as endangered.
