CBI searches PWD officials' properties in Karaikal

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted searches on March 22, 2025, at the properties of Public Works Department (PWD) officials in Karaikal. This action is part of an investigation into allegations of corruption in various infrastructure projects. The CBI responded to complaints of financial irregularities linked to PWD projects. These allegations were reported to both the CBI and the Income Tax Department. During the searches, they targeted multiple locations, including the offices and homes of the involved officials. On the same day, Dheenadhayalan, the Chief Engineer from Puducherry, visited Karaikal to inspect ongoing construction projects, along with Puducherry Minister P.R.N. Thirumurugan. After the inspection, he stayed at a guest house on Beach Road. Meanwhile, CBI officers apprehended Dheenadhayalan and several PWD officials, including a Superintending Engineer and multiple Executive Engineers. The officials were interrogated overnight as the investigation continued.
