Cellmate charged with first-degree murder in Manitoba

A man has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of another inmate at Brandon Correctional Centre. The incident happened in December, and the accused is a 27-year-old cellmate. On December 29, police received a report from the correctional facility about an assault. According to police, the victim, a 23-year-old inmate, was attacked by his cellmate, who allegedly punched and kicked him multiple times. The victim was taken to the hospital but later died from his injuries. The suspect is scheduled to appear in a Manitoba court on Tuesday to face the murder charge.
