Central California faces surge in respiratory infections
Doctors in Central California are busy this winter due to a surge in respiratory viruses. Patients are coming in with conditions like flu, COVID-19, and RSV. Dr. Kamalmeet Kaur from the Modern Medicine Group noted a seasonal change, with a high number of infections. The clinic in northeast Fresno experienced a spike in patients during December but saw a lull in January. However, cases have risen again in February and March. According to the CDC, flu activity remains high, though there has been a recent decrease in cases. Dr. Kaur is seeing patients with symptoms like coughs, headaches, sore throats, and congestion. Both younger adults and older patients are affected. As spring approaches, some patients are also experiencing allergy-like symptoms. The clinic is actively testing for respiratory viruses, as many patients are concerned about spreading illnesses. Dr. Kaur advises anyone with symptoms to visit their doctor promptly.
