Century aims to defend Carroll County lacrosse title
The Carroll County high school boys lacrosse season is gearing up, and many teams are eager to challenge defending champions Century. Fans expect every match to be competitive, much like the recent basketball season. Century enters the season with a strong roster, highlighted by talented goalie Jacob Ushamirsky. He impressed many last year during the regional playoffs. The Knights are focused on team chemistry as they aim to defend their title. Francis Scott Key is looking to improve after losing in last year's regional finals. Coach Connor Brown believes his young players are ready to take on important roles. Gerstell Academy, under coach Ryan Drenner, also has a solid junior class and aims to compete for a conference championship. Liberty, coached by Cody Bergman, has a mix of experience and youth. They aim for another playoff run after finishing as Class 1A runners-up last year. Manchester Valley hopes to remain competitive while replacing some key players from last season. South Carroll, with new coach Nicholas Chaconas, is optimistic about their talented athletes stepping into important positions. Meanwhile, Westminster, under Mike Flemming, has depth and experience, hoping to advance further in the postseason. Winters Mill, led by Darian Meador, is smaller in numbers but focused on quality. They aim to fill in gaps left by a graduating senior class that included the last two county Players of the Year. With all teams prepared, the 2025 season promises excitement and fierce competition in Carroll County lacrosse.
