Chamarajanagar leads Karnataka in child immunization rates
Chamarajanagar district has achieved the highest immunization rate in Karnataka for children under 2 years old, reaching 99.28% coverage. This surpasses other districts, with Udupi at 98.96%, Ramanagar at 98.91%, and Kodagu at 98.50%. The district successfully vaccinated 7,816 children aged 0 to 9 months and 8,168 children under 1.5 years against 12 diseases, including measles and polio. The vaccinations are provided free of charge with support from local health workers. Health officials credited the success to door-to-door efforts by community health workers. Chamarajanagar's achievement highlights the effectiveness of local health initiatives in improving child immunization rates.
