The ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 has broken viewership records in India, surpassing all previous multi-nation cricket tournaments. A thrilling final match between India and New Zealand on March 9 in Dubai attracted an impressive 122 million live viewers on TV and 61 million on JioHotstar, making it a historic occasion. Overall, the tournament achieved a 23% increase in TV ratings compared to previous events. Star Sports generated 137 billion minutes of watch time, while JioHotstar recorded 110 billion minutes. These figures position the tournament as one of the most-watched in history. ICC Chair Jay Shah praised the tournament's success, noting the overwhelming viewership numbers, especially for the final. He highlighted cricket's strong appeal in India and the impact of multi-language coverage on fan engagement. Sanjog Gupta, CEO Sports at JioStar, also spoke about the effective marketing strategies that attracted a diverse audience. One of the highlights was the much-anticipated India-Pakistan match on February 23. This match became one of the most-watched ODIs in India, with a total of 26 billion minutes viewed on linear TV. It outperformed the India-Pakistan matchup in the ICC World Cup 2023, attracting a record 206 million viewers. With strategic programming and high-stakes excitement, the Champions Trophy 2025 has established itself as a landmark event in Indian cricket broadcasting.
