Chandigarh approves Manimajra housing project layout
Chandigarh's urban planning department has approved a new housing project in Manimajra. The project will be developed on 7.7 acres of land owned by the Municipal Corporation (MC). City officials expect to raise between Rs 250 crore and Rs 300 crore by auctioning this prime land. The approved layout includes five residential areas with buildings that can reach up to five storeys. There will also be space for a shopping complex, green areas, and a playground. Some existing structures, like a school and Nirankari Bhawan, are located on the proposed site. The urban planning department has sent a revised layout plan to the MC. This plan outlines the development of the residential pockets, shopping areas, and green spaces. The department stated that the land must be free of any encumbrances before the project can proceed. MC Commissioner Amit Kumar announced that the land will be auctioned at current market rates. He mentioned that with updated collector rates, the city expects to receive around Rs 300 crore from this project. If everything goes smoothly, the auction process could be completed in three months.
