Chandigarh bar association elections occur today with advocates voting
Chandigarh District Bar Association elections are taking place today, with 2,248 advocates voting for a new president. Former presidents Sunil Toni and Ashok Chauhan are the main candidates. Voting runs from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, with results expected by 9 pm. This election marks a return to paper ballots, differing from the last election, which used electronic voting machines. A controversy over Chauhan's eligibility was resolved, allowing him to run despite previous claims he had served too many terms. In addition to the DBA elections, the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association will also hold elections today, with seven candidates competing for the president's position. Around 5,000 advocates will participate in this electoral process.
