Chandigarh committee approves key proposals for civic improvements

Chandigarh's finance and contract committee met on Monday and approved several important proposals. They agreed to extend the booking of Housing Board Ground for nine days, from March 2 to March 10. The committee also approved a project to provide and plant trees and shrubs at the Daddumajra dumping ground. This initiative is expected to cost around Rs 32.9 lakh. Additionally, the committee approved expenses for Diya Sodhi, an advocate. She is representing Chandigarh Municipal Corporation in two significant arbitration cases against Jai Prakash Associates Ltd. In another development, the first meeting of the municipal corporation's road committee took place. Members will carry out regular visits with local councillors to look into problems with paver blocks and damaged road gullies. The committee plans to address issues such as encroachments on road sides. They also directed the preparation of estimates up to Rs 25 lakh for urgent road repairs and paver block work. These estimates will be reviewed in the next meeting.
