Chandigarh meeting aims to simplify business regulations
A meeting was held in Chandigarh to improve business regulations in the region. The meeting was led by SCL Das from the Ministry of MSME and Rajiv Verma from the Chandigarh Administration. The purpose was to make it easier to do business and improve urban planning. The process, called Compliance Reduction and De-Regulation, aims to simplify rules related to land use, building regulations, and labor laws. Das presented ideas for reducing the burden of compliance on businesses. Key topics discussed included changing zoning rules, simplifying land use changes, and speeding up the approval process for various permits. Participants also talked about making it easier to build by relaxing certain restrictions and allowing third-party inspections. There were proposals to allow women to work at night and to increase working hours in certain industries. The goal is to streamline the approval process for business licenses and environmental clearances through a single-window system. The Chandigarh Administration expressed its commitment to adopting best practices from other states and countries to boost economic growth. A Task Force will monitor progress and suggest further improvements to enhance the business environment in Chandigarh.
