Chandigarh starts storm line project to prevent road damage

timesofindia.indiatimes.com

In Chandigarh, the Municipal Corporation has begun a new storm line project in Sector 45 to fix ongoing road issues. The work started on Sunday, led by local councillor Gurpreet Singh. The project will cost around Rs 14 lakh and is expected to finish within two months. The roads in this area often suffered damage. Previously, repairs were done by just filling the holes with debris, which did not solve the problem. The real issues were not properly inspected. When Gurpreet Singh was informed about the situation, he conducted a site inspection with senior engineering officials. They found that a major drainage culvert was broken and leaking. This culvert, which is 72 inches wide and located 20 feet underground, needed urgent repairs. The team created an estimate for fixing the culvert. They aim to complete the repairs before the monsoon season starts. This will help ensure rainwater drains properly and prevent further road damage.
