Chandigarh suspends junior engineer for parking violations

Chandigarh's Municipal Corporation (MC) commissioner, Amit Kumar, has suspended a junior engineer due to issues with parking fee enforcement. This action came after a surprise check revealed problems at a parking lot near the Smart City Office in Sector 17. During the inspection on Wednesday evening, Kumar observed that vehicles were entering and leaving the parking area without proper checks. This oversight meant that parking fee regulations were not being followed. Manoj Kumar, the junior engineer from the building and road (B&R) wing, was suspended for his role in this failure. Additionally, show-cause notices were issued to the executive engineer, Anurag Bishnoi, and the sub-divisional engineer, Akhil Dhiman. They have three days to explain why they did not effectively supervise the parking staff.
