Chandigarh's Sanjeev Kumar wins gold at Para Games

Sanjeev Kumar, a para shuttler from Chandigarh, won a gold medal in the men’s WH2 wheelchair category at the Khelo India Para Games in New Delhi. He is training at the Centre of Excellence for badminton located in Sector 38. Sanjeev faced a tough match against Harish. After losing the first game 18-21, he made a strong comeback and won the next two games 21-12 and 21-19. Earlier in the tournament, he defeated the top seed Abu Hubaida in the semi-finals with a score of 21-14, 21-12. He also won against Manjunath and Ashwani Kumar in the earlier rounds. After his victory, Sanjeev thanked his coaches, Surinder Mahajan and Bhuvan Sethi, as well as officials from the UT sports department for their support. Surinder Mahajan, who is also the joint secretary of the Badminton Association of India, announced plans to honor Sanjeev for his achievement. In another achievement, Ananya Bansal from Mohali won a bronze medal in the F20 category. She was trained by coaches Swarn Singh and Malikiyat at a sports complex in Mohali.
