Chandrapur burglar arrested after two decades of crime

Chandrapur police have arrested a well-known burglar who had been active for 20 years. The Local Crime Branch (LCB) captured Suresh Mahadev Kamre, 60, while he was trying to sell stolen gold. Police found gold and silver items worth ₹19.10 lakh in his possession. Kamre was apprehended on Friday evening after police received a tip about his activities. They seized gold ornaments worth ₹2.61 lakh during the arrest. When questioned, Kamre admitted to being involved in multiple burglaries across the district. Investigators revealed that he had committed 12 burglaries in areas served by different police stations. These included one in Bhadrawati, three in Warora, one in Saoli, one in Mul, five in Talodhi, and one in Nagbhid. Kamre has been avoiding capture for two decades and is considered a habitual offender. The operation to catch him was led by LCB PI Amol Kachore, under the supervision of SP Mummaka Sudarshan and Additional SP Reena Janbandhu.
