ChatGPT replaces Gemini as default assistant on Android
OpenAI's ChatGPT can now replace Google's Gemini as the default voice assistant on Android devices. This change comes with the latest update, version 1.2025.070 beta, allowing users to easily switch to ChatGPT. To set ChatGPT as the default assistant, users must update the app and navigate to their phone's settings. From there, they can select ChatGPT under the default digital assistant options. While ChatGPT offers new functionality, it lacks some features of Gemini, such as voice activation with hotwords. Additionally, it cannot control certain Google apps or devices, limiting its overall effectiveness.
