Cheer coach accused of stealing $38,000 in Illinois

A cheerleading coach in Lake Zurich, Illinois, faces serious allegations of theft. Gabriele N. Kelly, 26, is accused of stealing $38,000 from the school's funds. The investigation started in February 2024. The Lake Zurich Community Unit School District 95 noticed some financial issues with the cheerleading program. Police found that the money had been used for personal expenses. Kelly turned herself in and is facing four felony charges. These include two counts of theft and two counts of money laundering. She attended a court hearing on Tuesday and is scheduled for another court date in April. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the case to come forward.
