Chennai Corporation to release environmental investments report
The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) will soon release a report on its environmental investments. Mayor R. Priya shared this news during the Budget presentation on Wednesday. The GCC is working with the International Finance Corporation, part of the World Bank Group. This partnership aims to attract climate investments to address several environmental issues. These include sea water intrusion, water pollution, water scarcity, and coastal floods, among others. In 2024, the GCC launched six strategies to combat congestion and pollution. These strategies are part of the Chennai Climate Action Plan. They focus on improving public transport, introducing non-motorized transit, enhancing walkways, implementing congestion pricing, and better managing freight and parking.
