Chennai plans regional command centres for monitoring violations
The Greater Chennai Corporation plans to build Regional Integrated Command and Control Centres (RICCCs) in three areas. This project will cost 3 crore and aims to improve local monitoring and emergency response. These centres will act as extensions of the main control room in the city. They will help monitor sanitation, public health activities, traffic issues, and civic complaints in real time. The centres will use data from cameras, sensors, and field inspections. This will allow for quicker decision-making. Mayor R Priya highlighted their importance for flood alerts, epidemic tracking, garbage management, and public health emergencies. The main control room was established with 40 crore from Chennai Smart City funds.
