Chennai police investigate speeding youths on motorcycles

Chennai police are searching for a group of at least 20 youths who were spotted speeding on bikes along Anna Salai on Sunday night. A video of their reckless riding went viral on social media, raising concerns and prompting police action. The bikes did not have registration number plates, making it harder to identify the riders. They were seen riding from Nandanam to the Gemini Flyover area. Preliminary investigations suggest they were returning from local mosques. Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area to help track down the youths. Although there was no racing, their speeding created challenges for other drivers on the road. Authorities noted that they often receive complaints during this time of year about youths riding fast, especially after mosque visits. Bikers are known to perform stunts when the roads are less crowded, particularly in the early mornings. This past Saturday, police took action against reckless riding on the same stretch. They booked 17 individuals and confiscated their vehicles during this crackdown.
