Chennai suspect re-arrested for previous burglary case
Chennai police have arrested Gnanasekaran, the main suspect in the December 2024 rape of an Anna University student. This time, he is facing charges related to a burglary that occurred in 2013. Gnanasekaran was first arrested for the burglary in T Nagar in 2014. However, he was released on bail and failed to show up for his court trial. After his recent arrest for the rape case and other burglaries in Pallikaranai, the Mambalam police took him into custody again. He was presented before a magistrate on Thursday. The Mambalam police plan to interrogate him further. Meanwhile, a pawnbroker who bought stolen gold from Gnanasekaran was also arrested. Police recovered 120 sovereigns of jewellery during this investigation.
