Chennai trains cancelled due to maintenance rail block
Train services between Kavaraipettai and Ponneri in Chennai will be disrupted today, March 20, 2025. The Southern Railway has announced a four-hour rail block for maintenance work. This is from 1:20 PM to 5:20 PM. As a result, 16 suburban EMU and MEMU trains are fully cancelled. Key routes affected include Moore Market Complex to Sullurupeta and Chennai Beach to Gummidipundi. Some specific cancelled trains are Train No. 42413 and Train No. 42013. Two EMU services will run partially. Train No. 42501 will only go to Chennai Beach, while Train No. 42522 will start from that station, skipping Gummidipundi. To help commuters, the Southern Railway will operate 10 special passenger trains on alternative routes. These include services from Moore Market Complex to Ponneri and from Chennai Beach to Ponneri. Passengers are encouraged to plan their journeys ahead of time. Normal train services are expected to resume after the maintenance work is completed.
