Cherry blossoms bloom in top U.S. viewing spots

Spring 2025 brings the return of cherry blossom season across the United States. Parks and gardens will showcase beautiful pink and white blooms. This tradition started in 1912 when Tokyo's mayor gifted cherry trees to Washington, D.C. Today, these trees symbolize renewal each spring. Washington, D.C. remains the top spot for cherry blossom viewing. The peak bloom is expected from March 28 to 31. The Tidal Basin is the most famous site, but blossoms can also be seen at various memorials and parks. The National Cherry Blossom Festival runs from March 20 to April 13, featuring tours, bike rides, and cruise options. Macon, Georgia will celebrate its own cherry blossoms with the International Cherry Blossom Festival from March 21 to 30. This festival highlights 350,000 Yoshino cherry trees and features concerts, games, and a live BloomCam for remote viewers. In Brooklyn, New York, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden has over 200 cherry trees. Visitors can track the blooms through the garden's Cherrywatch page. Meanwhile, Dallas, Texas offers "Dallas Blooms" through April 13 at the Dallas Arboretum, blending cherry blossoms with tulip displays and events. Seattle's University of Washington showcases cherry trees in bloom from late March to early April. St. Louis, Missouri features over 200 cherry trees in its Missouri Botanical Garden, blooming from March to early April. In San Francisco, cherry blossoms can be enjoyed at the Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate Park. The city will also host a Cherry Blossom Festival on two weekends in April. Philadelphia's Fairmount Park is home to 2,600 cherry trees, including a key centerpiece at the Shofuso Japanese Cultural Center. Portland, Oregon has beautiful cherry blossom views at Tom McCall Waterfront Park and the Portland Japanese Garden. Lastly, Nashville's Public Square Park blooms with 1,000 cherry trees and will host a Cherry Blossom Festival on April 12, featuring contests and cultural events.
