Chet Hanks celebrates three years of sobriety

Chet Hanks recently shared his thoughts on his journey to sobriety. He celebrated three years sober in 2024 and described being sober as "everything." He spoke to Us Weekly at the Clarins ICONS event in Los Angeles on March 21. Hanks emphasized the importance of taking action if someone thinks they might have a problem with alcohol. He advised, "Don't look back," and said that making the choice to get sober can open up new opportunities. The actor, who is the son of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, also discussed the lifestyle changes that come with sobriety. He mentioned the need to distance oneself from friends who drink or use substances. Hanks believes that this can be done out of love and honesty. In his personal life, Hanks is a proud father to his daughter, Michaiah, who was born in 2016. He feels that being a "girl dad" is easier for him than being a father to a son, saying that with a daughter, he can focus on being nurturing. Hanks is excited about the renewal of his Netflix show, Running Point, where he plays professional basketball star Travis Bugg. He is looking forward to getting back to work and mentioned that the upcoming season has a lot of potential for fun surprises.
