Chhattisgarh declares Vicky Kaushal's film tax-free
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai attended a special screening of the film "Chhaava," directed by Laxman Utekar and starring Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna. The movie tells the story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of the famous Maratha ruler Shivaji Maharaj, who fought bravely against Mughal rule. During the screening, CM Sai praised the film for its portrayal of Sambhaji Maharaj's bravery and dedication to protecting his nation and culture. He expressed pride in the film and its message. To encourage more viewers to see it, he announced that "Chhaava" will be tax-free in Chhattisgarh. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma and other cabinet ministers accompanied the Chief Minister at the event. Previously, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also acknowledged the success of "Chhaava" and highlighted its cultural significance during a literary event in New Delhi. The film has been performing exceptionally well at the box office, grossing approximately ₹574.95 crore in its first 36 days. This makes it Vicky Kaushal's highest-grossing film, surpassing his earlier successes like "Uri: The Surgical Strike" and "Raazi." "Chhaava" was released in theaters on February 14, 2025, and will soon be available on OTT platforms.
