Chicago celebrates CPS basketball championship winners
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson recently celebrated local high school basketball champions at City Hall. He welcomed student-athletes, coaches, and staff from two schools: Hope Academy and Dyett Arts High School. Both teams won state championships in their respective divisions. Hope Academy took the title in 1A, while Dyett Arts High School won in 2A. DePaul College Prep also celebrated a championship win in division 3A. The event was held in the mayor's ceremonial office on March 20, 2025. Mayor Johnson expressed pride in the accomplishments of the players. He congratulated the teams for their hard work and success in the championship games. Coaches and players smiled and enjoyed the occasion, taking photos with the mayor. The celebration highlighted the achievements of these young athletes and their dedication to sports.
