Chicago man charged with attempted murder in shooting
A Chicago man has been charged with attempted murder after a shooting in West Garfield Park on Tuesday. Police say Chenault Williams, 42, shot a 22-year-old woman, who was critically injured. Williams faces several serious charges, including first-degree attempted murder and aggravated battery through the use of a firearm. He is also charged with aggravated domestic battery and two misdemeanors involving assault and theft. The shooting happened around 9:10 p.m. Tuesday. Police found the victim with a gunshot wound to her chest in the 4300 block of West West End Avenue. She was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where she remains in critical condition. According to the victim, the shooting followed an argument with Williams. After the incident, he fled the scene in a gray sedan. Police arrested him on Friday, just a block away from where the shooting took place. Williams is scheduled to appear in court on Saturday.
