Chicago man charged with murder of Elgin teen near United Center concert

A 19-year-old man, Deron Wolfe, has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Jess Kendall, an 18-year-old Elgin High School senior. The incident occurred on October 20, 2024, near the United Center in Chicago. Wolfe was ordered to remain in jail during pre-trial detention after appearing in court on February 3, 2025. He was arrested following a warrant issued on January 29, 2025, after an investigation linked him to the robbery and shooting. Kendall was shot while walking to a concert with friends.
