Chicago serial killer's detention hearing postponed, remains jailed
A man accused of being a serial killer in Chicago is still in custody. His latest court appearance for new murder charges was postponed on Tuesday. Antonio Reyes, now 21, allegedly killed six people between March and November 2020 when he was just 17. He faces charges for these murders on the Southwest Side of the city. One victim’s family expressed frustration over the rescheduling. They want justice and feel the delays are painful. Bernice Mangana, the sister of victim Francisco Mangana, spoke about their ongoing suffering. She said her family has been deeply affected by Reyes' actions. Francisco was killed on March 2, 2020, while simply walking home from work. Reyes is also facing attempted murder charges for four additional victims, including three children of one victim and his jail cellmate. Police have been gathering evidence since 2020, including links from social media posts. Reyes has been in jail since 2021 for a separate murder charge. He is accused of committing these crimes in places like Gage Park and Brighton Park. His family believes he should remain in jail for the harm he has caused. Reyes has pleaded not guilty to all charges and is set to return to court on April 7.
