Chicopee man nearly falls for Bitcoin bail scam
A man in Massachusetts nearly lost $4,000 in a Bitcoin scam while trying to post bail for a family member. The incident happened on Monday at a Shell Station in Chicopee. The Chicopee Police Department has been warning residents about these scams. They have been visiting Bitcoin ATMs in the area to share their concerns. While checking these machines, an officer noticed the man making a large deposit. Police say that real businesses do not typically ask for bail payments in cryptocurrency. They encourage people to contact the police if they are unsure about a transaction. Fortunately, the officer intervened just in time, stopping the man from losing his money.
